Mr. King is excited to be an Assistant Band Director at Sachse High School. Prior to working at Sachse HS, Mr. King was an Assistant Band Director at North Forney HS in Forney, TX, where his ensembles consistently received superior ratings. He has served as a marching band arranger and choreographer for programs in the area.
Mr. King graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Music Education, where he studied saxophone under the direction of Dr. Michael Davis and Dr. Eric Nestler. During his time at UNT, Mr. King performed in the Wind Orchestra and Wind Ensemble under the batons of Dr. Andrew Trachsel, Dr. Nicholas Enrico Williams and Dr. Daniel Cook, as well as the Wind Symphony for the Conductor's Collegium in the summer of 2022. Mr. King also proudly served as a drum major of the Green Brigade Marching Band for three seasons.
As a performer, Mr. King debuted three new works for the baritone saxophone in 2025 as a part of the “Baripalooza” Consortium, played alto saxophone on the UNT Wind Ensemble album “Fiestas”, and recorded the work “Impulse Engine” with the UNT Wind Symphony for Teaching Music Through Performance in Band Volume 12. In addition, he played tenor saxophone, was a featured soloist, and “Best Musical Performer” for Orion Winds, who placed 4th at the 2019 WGI World Championships in the Independent World Class division. Mr. King also marched at The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps from 2020-2021, where he played the mellophone and performed at the 2022 TMEA Clinic and Convention.
Outside of band, Mr. King enjoys watching sports, cooking, and is looking forward to a great year at Sachse High School!
