Ensembles

Since 2002, the Sachse High School Mustang Band has been a place for thousands of students to grow, to lead, and to succeed. The Sachse Band comprises the Mustang Marching Band, four Wind Bands, a Jazz Program, a Percussion Program, and both a Color Guard and Winter Guard.

Our member’s individual talents and unique character are what drive us to achieve excellence in all facets of our program. It’s what makes the Sachse Mustang Band – Sachse So Sweet!

Mustang Marching Band

The Mustang Marching Band is made up of all students across the Sachse Band Program. Through its traditions and continuous pursuit of excellence, the Sachse Mustang Marching Band has established itself as a premiere marching band in Garland ISD and around the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. The Mustang Marching Band performs at all Sachse HS Varsity Football games, pep rallies, marching band contests and exhibitions, and other events.

The Sachse Mustang Band competes across Texas in Bands of America competitions, consistently achieves 1st Division ratings at the Texas UIL Marching Band Competitions, and frequently advances to the Area Finals. The band competes in Bands of America Contests and this past year qualified and competed in the State Marching Contest in the Alamodome!

Concert Bands

The Sachse Band Program consists of four to five concert bands: Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony, Honors Band, and Symphonic Band, and Concert Band. Placement into each ensemble is based on individual student audition as well as participation and advancement in the TMEA All-State process.

Jazz Band

Jazz Band is offered as a year round course and only offered to students who are concurrently enrolled in both the Sachse Mustang Band and one of the top four concert band classes. At Sachse, we have two jazz bands that perform at Sachse Band concerts, civic events around the greater Sachse area, and contests and festivals specific to the jazz genre.

Percussion

Aside from the major role the Percussion play in the Sachse Mustang Band in the form of the Drumline and Front Ensemble, percussion students also participate in each of the five concert bands. Placement into the bands is based on individual student audition as well as participation and advancement in the TMEA All-State process. Additionally, percussion students get the opportunity to participate in larger, independent percussion ensembles that compete at Solo and Ensemble Contests. These additional ensembles allow for our percussion students to not only develop their technical abilities but to expose the percussion students to a wider range of repertoire of World Music.

Color Guard & Winter Guard

The Color Guard and the Winter Guard are an integral part of the Sachse Mustang Band Program. In the Fall, the Color Guard contribute to the pageantry as performers dance, spin flags, rifles, sabres, and interact with other props and the marchers. The Color Guard is responsible for providing the visual aesthetic and interpretation of the music. In the Spring, the Winter Guard performs indoors as an individual unit at competitions around the metroplex. Students in this performing group receive their PE credit through participation in the activity.
